An exciting development and Community Resource in Ashington!
REAL DEAL PLUS acquired the old Police Station and Court House on Station Road in Ashington in November 2014.
The Charity is using the building to implement a community support programme and provide much needed help and support to the residents of Ashington.
The Ashington Life Centre acts as a community hub offering help, counselling and support programmes as well as life skills training. We also operate an emergency food bank, Community Cafe, Warm Space and Homeless support.
Ashington Life Centre provides a wealth of resources for the local community. A Teen Bar, Community Café with nutritious low cost meals, Furniture Supply project, Emergency Food Bank and much more. We have facilities to let such as our training room and large Function Room.
Our Youth Project at the Centre is based around the coffee bar which is currently
open several times per week to provide a safe place for young people aged 10-
We currently work alongside Social Services, Social Justice, Northumbria Police, Northumbria Healthcare, Women’s Refuge and the Job Centre and have implemented an independent emergency Food Bank which is run from the Centre. We also provide support packs for the homeless (flasks, food, toiletries, rucksacks, tents, sleeping bags etc.).
Community Shop
Our Community Shop sells good quality second hand clothes and other goods at a fraction of the cost of other High Street Charity Shops. We are staffed mainly by volunteers and all profits go back into the Centre to benefit the local community.
Volunteers
Our centre is staffed mainly by volunteers. If you have a few hours a week to spare to help us change lives in our local community we would love to hear from you. Contact details are available here. Due to the nature of our work, DBS checks may be compulsory for some volunteering positions.
